Nelson Mandela

Achievements :- Mandela became involved in politics.
- Mandela was able to finish his degree and qualified as a Lawyer.
- Mandela and Tambo opened the first Black Law firm in South Africa. 
-Nelson Mandela was inaugurated as the first democratically elected State President of South Africa.
- Nelson Mandela was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.



Turning Points :- Mandela had been arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment in the notorious Robben Island prison.

- Nelson Mandela recently lost his eldest son to this disease.

Fred Hollows


  • 1929 - Fred Hollows was born in New Zealand.

  • 1980 - Fred Hollows had extended his campaign for treating avoidable eye disease.

  • 1989 - Fred Hollows was diagnosed with cancer.

  • 1990 - Fred Hollows 

  • 1992 - The Fred Hollows Foundation was established.

  • 1992 - Fred Hollows has worked in more than thirty countries around the world.

  • 1993 - Fred Hollows died.


Kevin Gilbert

  • He was born in 1933.
  • In 1957 Gilbert was sentenced to life imprisonment.
  • In 1968 Gilbert wrote the play (The Cherry Pickers)
  • In 1970 that was first exhibited his work.
  • In 1971 he was granted parole.
  • In 1977 wrote book (Living Black).
  • In 1978 Gilbert was awarded the National Book Council Book award.
  • In 1988 Gilbert was awarded the Human Rights.
  • In 1989 His work was included in Narragansett at the Canberra Contemporary Art Space.
  •  In 1992 he received a Australian Artists Creative Fellowship from the Australia Council.
  •  Kevin Gilbert died in 1993.
  • The Kevin Gilbert Memorial Trust was established in 1993 to further his aspirations.
